I’m in Washington DC !
I gave an interview this week and talked about story-telling art.Today we explored DC and what was the first thing we came upon-a Moore sculpture.
I’m amazed to be in DC and even more pleased to see my favourite sculptor. Here’s a more traditional view tourists and cranes so strangely like another city

Found a friend !
Found Ginny’s piece on a Saturday morning drive through Seattle ! Brightened up my Saturday-Yes that’s Seattle and it’s sunny.Hubby was driving and got a long look from pedestrian as I got all excited, squeaking about Ginny’s pictures on her wall.
Best thing is I’ve discovered I can print images ATC sized .That opens a whole next opportunity and finally an excuse to explore our printer paper stash ( yes I have one of those too)

B&W and all around
10 cents fun
Not temperature but book sales !
Today the teen needed airing. While I’m trying to make black and white christmas ornaments for submitting to a crafty mag-where do I end up but at the library. They were having a 10 cents end of the month sale.
This was my first big altered book project my “I” book .The Punch book covers a significant time frame for me as I was born during this period. As with all altered books Punch sits in a special cubby waiting for the muse to be so that I have to alter them.I’ll dip into the text and try to understand the cartoons some are timeless, others need decoding for political and social context. Book trawling probably the slowest part of the art I make but as most of the books are over 40 yrs old it seems fitting.
Why we do
This morning was a unique occasion the chance to visit the home of an inspirational couple. The docent family shared their home and art.One of our new graduates Katie explained that this was the most important part of being a docent and gallery duty was just an extra bonus. That and the gentle arm stroke from an honor docent who simply said “glad you decided to stay around” made my day.
Thought I’d share the flowers in my deck garden and flowers in my crafting space.Must be summer time.
Moojo
When we arrived in the US I brought a sock monster making book in my carry on.Knowing that I would be separated from my crafting supplies for at least 4 months these seemed like a good crafting option.
This weekend my brief was to create a stuffed animal and my partners request was a cow.I’ve been thinking about this project for about a week and in the end came down to exploring my sock stash.
For now this is a teaser of Jersey who just danced to the British national anthem as Jenson Button won the Canadian GP.Great job guys.
Schools out for summer !
Why so quiet ? Just been too busy.Sharing was fun but exhausting.Letting others see your work is tough enough without having your table next to a featured artist in the museum who has just joined the docent body !
Leading the tactile art class yesterday was inspiring as ever.Getting the email regarding three boxes of glass lids and could I use them was even more fun.
I like to make recycled yard art. This baffle was found on Fay Bainbridge State park beach. It was a hazard to marine mammals so I removed it and used it last year to grow salads.A couple of weeks ago I read an article about succulent wall art pieces. We found some succulents and so I’ve been playing- mud pies with the teen but more of that after Father’s Day !
Not crafting in a straight line
Earth Day Inchies Swap-Chin up Liz
So this weekend found me in Eastern Washington over the other side of the Cascades in the warm Walla Walla sun.
Perfect weekend for crafting, relaxing and eating amazing home-cooked food.I created two summer dresses for the young lady of the house.Free-knitted up my naughty supplies from Pike while the household slept in on Saturday morning into a small purse. The inspiration can from the magazine I purchased on Thursday “Haute Handbags”.
We played with vintage crocheted dollies to make clutch bags.A nice way to remember a great Grandma.
Then I used all my dress making skills to create a a linen summer print tote and a couple of grocery bags.I left the house with one cut out next to the sewing machine for our host.Apologies to the rest of the household that all the crafting bins had been out and explored !
