I’ll be hosting a workshop focusing on exploring and creating with this book form over the next few weeks at Bellevue Art and Frame.
I’ve picked up my ongoing altered copy of “The First Deadly Sin” playing with tip-ins,niches and secret places.
I can finally share a couple of pieces from this week.
I belong to an online community called Cut,Out and Keep.Part of the group swap crafty items.I find it a great way to stretch myself and acquire pieces for collaborative work. Then I pass it on.I have a collection of fabric,wired and paper flowers and other objects which I will be continuing to include in projects for a long time.
Kiddo was one of my first swap partners this week our crafty paths crossed again and I made these two creatures as part of a Halloween swap.
The legs to Al have been in my stash for a while so -thanks to Hunting Wabbits they finally found their home.
Al oween is an off worlder who visits for the annual pumpkin thing on the blue planet and brought last years picture book from her visit.
Greenback is just a pure celebration of that fact that our green card paperwork has been signed and we are one step closer to become permanent residents in the US
So I have things in the mail that it would be unkind to post until they get to their destination.
As part of my course last year we were encourage to consider branding ourselves and still know I have a way to go in this regard.The business card is one aspect of this development.So I’ve been playing with finding an image to back my info and I think this will be it.

Just like life these birds are full of small imperfections.I love playing with the surfaces,stitching and creating them.They are still based on Kerri Perkin’ s Stitch Alchemy birds but are longer bound to being paper-cloth only.
It’s finally raining in Seattle ! 82 days with no measurable precipitation in England we would have called it a drought and worried about hose pipe bans.In the Pacific North West we celebrate high alpine meadows that sometimes never see the sun from year to year.
So I ‘ve just hosted my first altered book board class and it fun.My homework is below and I’m looking forward to sharing more techniques in future class at Bellevue Art and Frame.

So I have been playing with a new toy and having some fun.
We are just back from our 20th wedding anniversary road trip and enjoyed journal ling along the way.I also played with ipad sketching and these two images really sum up our trip.It was great to see so many otter pups with their mother hang out just about everywhere we looked.Although this composition is a little generous but we did see a pod of dolphins in the Bay under the bridge just as the America’s cup teams where starting their races.
I had forgotten how much I enjoy making Steampunk jewelry and yesterday got ahead on a swap by prepping a pin.
I’m really excited to be invited to host a workshop on Altering Books.We are going to start with board books and I very much hope to be continuing on the explore other forms.Some of my altered books can be viewed here.

This is post 100 and I am still learning new skills.
For the last three weeks I’ve attend Mixed Media Mondays at Bellevue Art and Frame.Under Nan’s cheerful tuition we been exploring how to get to that final layer in Mixed Media composition.
Think it’s time to get out my old altered day book and create some more pages.Surface reduction is the new play area.
OK so we swapped the cold for heat and I haven’t been able to plant for fear things would just dry out.Yesterday afternoon it was 90 in the shade on the deck.
The dark grey and mustard studio space is going to need a makeover.Any spare paint will go to the garage wall.
